Honouring Extraordinary Supporters of Vuyani Safe Haven
What makes an ambassador
Our Deepest Gratitude: Vuyani is immensely grateful for our ambassadors—these are the changemakers who make our partnership thrive!
Ambassadors for Vuyani Safe Haven
Samara Karoo Reserve
- Since: 2010
- Founded by: Mark and Sarah Tompkins
- What They Do: Through their work in conservation, Samara Karoo Reserve has been instrumental in supporting Vuyani. With a focus on biodiversity restoration and reintroducing endangered species, Samara’s team and guests have contributed to Vuyani’s building projects, community outreach, and enrichment programs.
- Impact: Providing unforgettable experiences in nature and continuous support to help Vuyani’s children thrive. The Samara team and the Tompkins family fundraise for Vuyani by sharing our projects and achievements whenever the opportunity arises.
Lathallan School of Scotland
- Since: 2011
- What They Do: Lathallan’s pupils (S5 and S6) have been visiting Vuyani annually to volunteer, with the school raising over £30,000 to support Vuyani’s programs.
- Impact:After a 3-year hiatus due to Covid-19, the school resumed its volunteer program in 2023 and 2024, and made a positive difference with each visit. Although they will still fundraise for Vuyani, they won’t visit this year, because of the financial effect of new Tax liabilities introduced at private schools, putting strain on parents and the school.
- Continued liaison: New plans and strategies to keep the Lathallan/Vuyani connection going, is underway.
